Dental Implants

Dental implants are small screws placed in the jaw in the place of missing teeth. They can then be restored with crowns, dentures or bridges which are fixed onto the implant.

Implants are beneficial as they can prevent bone loss around missing teeth preventing the face from having a sunken in appearance, they restore function enabling you to eat and chew as normal, and they are the most tooth-like replacement for missing teeth.

Invisible Braces

Braces are used to straighten the teeth or correct bites which hinder function. They improve the appearance and harmony of your smile.

Discrete braces can be used so that friends and family don’t even realise you are undergoing dental treatment. There are two types; removable or fixed braces. Removable braces are worn full time and are only removed to eat. Fixed braces are similar to ‘train track’ metal braces, however they are made from a clear material and are also discrete.

Rohan uses Invisalign, CFast and ClearCorrect systems, depending on the need of the patient.

All orthodontic treatments require retainers to prevent relapse.

Smile Makeovers

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your smile, there are many different treatment options to enhance your smile.

These include tooth whitening, composite bonding, porcelain veneers, orthodontic treatments, implants and dentures.

There are lots of factors that contribute to the design of a treatment plan. Rohan tailors the makeover to your needs and requirements.

What is Tooth Whitening?

If you are unhappy with the colour of your teeth, staining on your teeth, or perhaps one tooth is a different colour to the rest, we can bring your confidence back by whitening your teeth in a safe and effective way.

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite is the name for the white filling material used to repair teeth. Where teeth are spaced, worn, smaller than others or lacking symmetry, composite can be used to artistically create symmetry and resolve these aesthetic issues.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Where composite bonding may not be possible to enhance the smile, or has already been carried out and warrants replacing, porcelain veneers may be used. Veneers are different from ‘full coverage crowns’ and are a lot less invasive. They involve minimal preparation of the front surface of the tooth and provide excellent aesthetic results.

Gum Disease Treatment

What is gum disease?

Gum disease, or ‘periodontitis’, is an inflammatory disease of the gums surrounding the teeth in response to bacteria in the mouth. This inflammatory response leads to destruction of the bone supporting the teeth, leading to teeth becoming looser in the mouth and often tooth loss.

How do I know if I have gum disease and am I susceptible?

Bleeding gums is the first sign of unsettled gums so it is recommended to book in for a dental visit if this is something you are experiencing. ‘Pockets’ start forming between the gum and the teeth where bacteria can collect. As these pockets deepen, cleaning becomes harder.

Patients with family members who have gum disease are at a higher risk, as well as patients with diabetes and smokers. Smoking increases the risk of periodontitis by three times, makes treatment three times less likely to work, and means you are at a three times higher risk of losing your teeth.

What is the treatment for gum disease?

Rohan’s management of gum disease has a high focus on patient involvement. Patients with gum disease may already have good oral hygiene, however their regimes aren’t enough to switch off the inflammation of the gums.

Therefore, most treatment for gum diseases involves focusing on how to effectively control the inflammation of the gums, in combination with dental cleans. The dental cleaning aims to remove the bacteria at the base of deeper pockets, where it’s difficult to access with at-home cleaning.

Some patients may not respond to this minimally invasive approach. Around 10% of patients may require surgical treatment of their gum disease. This is something Rohan can discuss with you if a minimal approach isn’t effective for you.

Rehabilitations

What is a Full Mouth Rehabilitation?

‘Full Mouth Rehabilitation’ is a general term for the mutlidisciplinary treatment of a broken down dentition back to pristine condition.

It almost always involves more than one modality of treatment and may involve anything from dentures and implants to replace missing teeth, to rebuilding the teeth in a heavily worn mouth.

These types of treatment usually require thorough planning phases before and stages whereby the patient is in temporary restorations. Rohan ensures all patients who may need full mouth rehab work can live their day-to-day lives as normal between appointments.

These types of treatments can often span over 1-2 years.

General Dentistry

Aside from his more advanced work, Rohan also offers general dentistry. Some of his most common treatments includes white fillings, crowns, onlays, bridges and complex extractions.

Facial Aesthetics

As we age we lose the collagen in our skin, which stops it from snapping back into place after facial expression, meaning we develop lines and wrinkles. Through prevention of wrinkling during facial expression we can delay and prevent this process. This is done with Botox injections, commonly performed in the forehead, around frown lines and around our eyes when we smile.

Sometimes it’s too late and these lines and wrinkles have already started to appear. Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid can revolumise the skin and decrease/remove these lines or wrinkles.

Rohan works with market leading brands for both Botox and Fillers, in Bocouture by Merz Aesthetics, FillMed and Perfectha.
